THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THIS SESSION IS TO:
Provide you with more information on what the Disaster Management (DM) Program is, as well as the requirements for becoming a DM volunteer, and how to proceed with your application (including the opportunity to sign up for an interview after the session) should you decide that this program is for you
WHO IS THIS SESSION FOR?
*Everyone who has already completed a volunteer application form for Disaster Management (if you have completed one, it would have been during your orientation with a Volunteer Resources volunteer at the Red Cross office)
*Anyone interested in simply learning more about applying to become a Disaster Management Volunteer (but has not completed an application yet)
WHAT IF I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND THE RED CROSS? No problem - that is what this session is for!
STUDENT PREREQUISITES FOR ATTENDING: None (however, if you would like to learn more about the Disaster Management Program as well as the Red Cross before attending this session, please ask karen.ussher@redcross.ca about the online, self-study "Intro to DS" booklet)
COURSE LOCATION? Click on the blue link "Calgary Operations Room" above under "Location" heading
PARKING? Click on the blue link "Calgary Operations Room" above, under "Location" heading
BUILDING ACCESS: Please come to the front door (just off of 11 Ave., S.W) - the instructor will let you in (building may be locked) and show you where the room is
WHAT DO PARTICIPANTS NEED TO BRING? Notepad and Paper. Also, if you have not already submitted a resume with your application (if you have completed one), feel free to bring that as well (although not required)
